AGPOM / Energy Star Partnership

Energy Star Logo

AGPOM maintains a strategic partnership with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Energy Star program. As an Energy Star Partner, AGPOM makes a fundamental commitment to protect the environment through the promotion of continuous improvement in energy performance to its members.

Energy Star was introduced by EPA in 1992 as a voluntary, market-based partnership to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through energy efficiency. Today, the Energy Star label can be found on more than 50 different kinds of products, new homes and commercial and industrial buildings. In 2007, Americans, with the help of Energy Star, saved $16 billion on their energy bills while reducing the greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those of 27 million vehicles.

In partnership with AGPOM, Energy Star will:

  • Assist AGPOM in pursuit of it's energy efficiency priorities by providing informational, technical and educational support to the association and its members.
  • Explore opportunities to collaborate on the development of new educational programs for facility managers.
  • Recognize AGPOM on the Energy Star Web site as a Partner and participant in the Energy Star Challenge. As AGPOM makes progress toward achieving Energy Star milestones, the association will be eligible for additional recognition.

As an Energy Star Partner, AGPOM will:

  • Incorporate guidelines consistent with the Energy Star Energy Management Policy into the AGPOM Sustainability Plan.
  • Help spread the word about the importance of energy efficiency to our members and the community.
  • Support Energy Star Challenge, a national call-to-action to improve the energy efficiency of America's commercial and industrial buildings by 10 percent or more.
  • Encourage members to partner with Energy Star and measure and track the energy performance of their facilities by using tools and training such as those offered through the Energy Star program.
