The Springs Resort and Spa is home to the newest building, the EcoLuxe Hotel; a 29-room, luxury green-built building designed and constructed and certified to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold standards. LEED is a national building rating system that encourages green building and sustainable development practices through specified criteria. Gold is the second highest LEED rating. This is the first LEED-built hotel in Colorado and one of only 22 in the nation. In addition, the resort is also a TripAdvisor GreenLeader Platinum level.

Campus Apartments, a national leader in the development and management of university-affiliated real estate, announces that its first hotel development, Homewood Suites by Hilton – University City, was awarded the Silver level of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. It is currently the only LEED Silver Hotel in Philadelphia.
Advanced sustainability designs, systems, details and materials have been incorporated throughout the building. In March of 2011 the office tower earned a LEED for Core & Shell (LEED – CS) Gold Level Certification making it the region’s first LEED Gold Certified High-rise office building.
ENERGY STAR-rated appliances, windows and pool heaters are utilized throughout the resort. To conserve additional energy they set indoor temperatures to 72 F minimum in the summer and maximum in the winter. Installed sensors adjust the temperature when a guest room is empty. South facing overhangs, tree shading and window films are also used to help keep buildings cool and over 25% of the roofs are painted white (aka cool roof) to reflect the heat. All of these green efforts help to reduce the need for air-conditioning.

All of the 233 apartments come with ENERGY STAR appliances and water-conserving faucets, toilets and showerheads. Dwell residences also contain whole-house ventilation systems to help reduce allergens, and in the private garages the fumes from car exhaust are minimized thanks to air filtration systems.
