Renewable Energy Plan
Renewable energy facilities generate renewable energy credits (RECs) when they produce electricity. Purchasing these credits is a way to reduce the environmental footprint of your electricity consumption.
Through a partnership with Bonneville Environmental Foundation (BEF), AGPOM supports renewable energy by dedicating 10% of our membership fee to purchasing RECs on behalf of risk purchasing group members. This year’s (2015) purchase included purchasing 4,790 RECs (4,790,000 kWh) is the equivalent to powering nearly 600,000 sqft of office space for a year (598,750 sqft exactly) OR powering 496 average US homes for one year!
Risk purchasing group members can purchase additional credits at our discounted price which can then be used to apply for up to 6 LEED credits.
This unique environmental strategy creates significant value and benefits to risk purchasing group members:
- Boost your commitment to corporate responsibility through insurance purchase
- Receive recognition certificate to proudly display to all stakeholders
- Qualify for up to 6 LEED credits
- Help fight climate change with little to no effort
- Be more prepared for pending federal legislation

About the Bonneville Environmental Foundation (BEF)
BEF’s mission is to support the development of renewable energy while empowering people to shrink their carbon footprint. Founded in Portland, Oregon in 1998, BEF is a national, nonprofit organization. In 2000, they helped to create the voluntary market for carbon offsets by closing the first retail REC trade deal with the Environmental Protection Agency. They also launched the first online carbon calculator in 2001. With BEF Carbon Offsets, organizations and individuals are able to dedicate funds to the development of renewable energy sources like solar power and wind farms. And this in turn, helps us reduce the carbon footprints we leave behind.
